OFA

What is OFA Certification?

I just wanted to let you know that "Rex" and I made it home after a long day in the office and a car about 9:30 p.m. Rex was a great boy all day long and is now comfortably home. He is absolutely fantastic! He has taken well to being in the house and his crate with only 2 accidents and ironically he did that in the bathroom!

We took him to the vet yesterday, so he is all set. We couldn't be happier!

The Orthopedic Foundation for Animals, Inc. (OFA) was originally established to assist breeders handle canine hip dysplasia (HD). HD is a genetic trait that can be minimized by selectively breeding dogs that have a lesser disposition for HD. By voluntarily participating in the OFA Dysplasia Registry, breeders have a reliable method at making informed decisions on which dogs to breed. In order to receive OFA Certification, a dog must be at least 2 years of age when the radiographs are taken, and there cannot be any evidence of dysplasia.
